A science fiction by Chris Tolley and Laura Mullin, “Burusera” looks at how two people become linked together by the most intimate of items: a pair of underwear. Welcome to the future, a world where every aspect of human connectivity is for sale to meet the needs and desires of sellers and buyers. In 2014, the Artistic Directors of Expect Theatre were commissioned by the acclaimed Watermark Theatre, as one of 9 Canadian playwrights to create a new work for Canada 300. The selected short plays explore our hopes and fears for Canada in the next 150 years, and will tour across the nation. “Burusera” will be available in the two official languages, and will tour in 20 different communities in Quebec City, St John’s, Corner Brook, Iqaluit, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Moncton, Halifax, Sydney and Charlottetown, between starting February 2015.
