GET PAID FOR YOUR WORK: GRANT WRITING with Aaron Jan
(Playwright, Director, and Dramaturg; Creator with Factory Theatre, Canadian Stage, the Stratford Festival)
SATURDAY OCTOBER 10 11am-12:15pm
You deserve to get paid for your work. Whether you’re writing a play by yourself, workshopping it digitally with your collective, or planning on mounting a production when theatres once again open their doors, there are ways to finance a project without relying on your own money or the unpredictability of ticket sales. In this workshop, Aaron Jan will lead you through the basics of grant writing, as well as walk you through various streams of funding and the strategies he uses to win them. He will discuss grants he’s been awarded at the OAC, TAC and CCA level, common pitfalls of applying for grants, and his experiences on the other side as a theatre projects juror. I believe in fearlessness with money. Get that money. Get paid. You deserve it.
